Chemical Engineer R&D Lactide & PLA
You like to play a crucial role in tech transfer projects from lab scale to industrial production at one of the largest PLA companies. Initiating and overseeing projects, guiding the process in close contact with R&D and Operations, until handover to production is your focus.
“Chemical Engineering R&D Lactide & PLA”
You are a process technologist or chemical engineer and responsible for the translation of (process) technology from R&D to production and vice versa. You are responsible for a project-based approach of the technology transfer, implementation on production scale, including documentation and reporting. Your background and experience in industrial processes is necessary to manage this. Designing Process Flow Diagrams (PFD’s), making Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID's) and Control Descriptions are an essential part of the total workload.
You will work in an international R&D team, next to your colleagues who are mostly focussed on products while your focus will be on the processes. Your colleagues from the engineering departments in Gorinchem and Thailand will be your sparring partners, and you will build and maintain your network of international institutions and universities.
The R&D department is located in the Netherlands, with production taking place in Thailand, where you will be traveling and working regularly.
Part of the function is to initiate, prepare, guide and execute trials to test and validate efficiency improvements and/or newly developed chemistry on the (pilot) plant. You will align the planning and execution of these projects in close cooperation with R&D and Operations.
- This is a new role which will provide you with the opportunity to shape the position and its direction yourself through your own ideas and intrinsic motivation.
- You have influence on improving processes, or the implementation of new processes
- You will be part of a highly motivated team that focuses on biobased and degradable solutions for a sustainable future.
- Total Corbion PLA has shown significant historical growth and is well placed for future success.
You recognise yourself as an excellent communicator, able to be the linking pin between R&D and Operations. You like to expand your knowledge and experience and you have the intellectual power to understand and manage complex processes and technology transfer projects. You are a team player and have an excellent track record in driving results.
You have a Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, plus 3-5 years industry experience. You have experience in the field of (bio)chemicals, or preferably polymers, and/or separation technologies.
Based on your detailed knowledge of the literature of the subject area, you are able to independently formulate project plans within a given strategy.
Willingness to travel abroad, mostly Thailand, 4-6 times per year for at least two weeks if necessary.
